Many of those who use purses value the snapping sound (‘pachi’) when they close the clasp. PACHI, the purse that transformed from a souvenir item into fashion item, is made in an ancient town of Kyoto, where a purse is most appropriate. The large opening that resembles a mouth of a toad is not only functional to open and close quickly, but also it is said to bring you economic fortune, and many Japanese people still love to use them. Adopting the traditional technique of Kyo-Yuzen, ‘oshizome dyeing’, it is made individually from the clasp to sewing by the hands of craftsmen of Kyoto.
